The inauguration ceremony of Vietnam National Mine Action Centre in Hanoi
(LĐXH) In the morning of October 20th, the Defense Ministry held a ceremony to inaugurate Vietnam National Mine Action Centre (VNMAC) in Thach Hoa ward, Thach That district, Ha Noi.

Attending the ceremony were General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo and Minister of Defense and Deputy Head of the Permanent Steering Committee of the State National Program remedial postwar mine (Committee 504); The Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee 504; Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of Defence; leaders of the Central Sector Steering Committee members is 504; Ted Osius, US Embassy and representatives of the embassies of India, Japan, Korea, ...

General Ngo Xuan Lich had a speech at the ceremony
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, General Ngo Xuan Lich said: Over two wars, the land and people of Vietnam were hit terribly by the large number of landmines. After these wars ended, inspite of difficult conditions of Vietnam, the Government had many guidelines and measures for leadership and direction at all levels, mobilized community to invest in improving consequences left by landmines. With the opening of the office in national scale, VNMAC will have more favorable conditions to overcome the consequences of mines after the war.
‘’The completion of modern office building in national scale will help command progress and mines concequences improvement alot. Also, this is the place for both regional and international cooperation; bilateral and multilateral relationship in remedial activities between Vietnam and other countries.’’ General Ngo Xuan Lich stressed out his point.

Giving tasks for VNMAC, General Ngo Xuan Lich said that in the near future, VNMAC should comply with policies and regulations of the Party in remedy consequences of mines; focus on international cooperation to quickly turn Vietnam into a country with no mine contamination and accident; promote the dissemination, in close coordination with international partners in order to attract resources for implementing programs and education to prevent mine accidents in society; direct VNMAC to be a regional and international mine cation centre.
At the ceremony, General Ngo Xuan Lich also thanked individuals, domestical and international organizations, the Ambassador of the countries who have cooperated with Vietnam to join hands to overcome the consequences of mine, supported VNMAC work really effectively.

The construction of VNMAC started in May 4th 2015 with total investment of 415 billions VND on the area of 5,2ha. Total floor area was 23.921m2 in use, including such items as: the Commander, Hall, State Mine exhibit, internal housing, Canteen, Club Officers, Dormitory, lecture ... and other ancillary items. After the inauguration, VNMAC held a conferene with partners about mine remedial after wars inVietnam.
