Multidimensional poverty rate nationwide drops to 4.06% in 2024
(LĐXH)- According to the announcement of the MoLISA, the national multidimensional poverty rate in 2024 is 4.06%, down 1.65% compared to 2023. Despite the improvement, over 1.2 million households in the country remain classified as poor or near-poor.

According to the decision, the national multidimensional poverty rate (which includes both poor and near-poor households) for 2024 is 4.06%. The total number of multidimensional poor and near-poor households is 1,258,997.
This represents a 1.65% decrease in the multidimensional poverty rate for 2024 compared to 2023.
According to the announcement of MoLISA, the nationwide poverty rate is 1.93%, with a total of 599,608 poor households.
Decision No. 217/QĐ-BLĐTBXH shows that by the end of 2024, two localities in the country-Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, achieved a multidimensional poverty rate of 0% (including a 0% poverty rate and a 0% near-poverty rate).
In addition, four localities, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Bac Ninh, have reduced their poverty rate to 0%.
The multidimensional poverty rate, the number of poor and near-poor households announced in Decision No. 217 serve as the basis for implementing poverty reduction and social welfare policies, as well as other economic and social policies, starting from January 1, 2025./.
