Challenges with labour market in the last 6 months
(LĐXH)- In the first 5 months of 2023, although the number of workers who lost their jobs due to businesses shrinking production tends to increase, the overall labour-employment situation of the whole country is still under control. It is forecasted that the labour market in the last 6 months of this year will also bear many risks and challenges.
The report on labor-employment situation from 40 provinces and cities said that by the end of May 20, about 509,000 employees had their jobs affected such as job loss, job severance, reduction of working hours, suspension of contracts, etc.
This figure accounts for about 3.4% of the total number of employees in the enterprise.
Despite the fact that enterprises in some industries are facing difficulties, there are still many enterprises with high demand for labor recruitment.
According to data from 40 localities, the recruitment demand in the first 5 months of the year was 410.1 thousand workers, much higher than the number of workers who lost their jobs or quit their jobs.
The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has directed employment service centers to intensify the organization of job sessions, especially thematic job sessions to quickly connect jobs for labourers.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs forecasts that the labour market in the last 6 months will also face many risks and challenges, especially in the context of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
From now until the end of the year, MoLISA will focus on institutional building under the 2023 Work Program of the Government and the Prime Minister.
The focus of this content is to complete and submit to the National Assembly the Law on Social Insurance (amended), the Employment Law (amended); submit to the Government to submit to the Party Central Committee for promulgation a Resolution on continuing to innovate and improve the quality of social policies, meeting the requirements of the cause of national construction and defense in the new period.
Along with that, effectively implement the Government's Resolution No. 06/NQ-CP dated January 10, 2023 on the development of a flexible, modern, efficient, sustainable and integrated labour market for a quick socioeconomic recovery./.
