Many encouraging results in child drowning prevention and control
(LĐXH)- On December 7, the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education (NACCE) coordinated with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to organize a workshop on prevention and control of child drowning. Vice Chairwoman of the NACCE Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa and Deputy Minister of MoLISA Nguyen Thi Ha co-chaired the event.
The Prime Minister has also promulgated programs and targets to prevent children's accidents and injuries, and to prevent child drowning through specific periods.
With roles and responsibilities in state management of children, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has coordinated with ministries, sectors and mass organizations to effectively implement the Program on prevention of child accidents and injuries as well as implementing interdisciplinary plans to prevent child drowning.
To date, many encouraging results have been achieved, creating a safe environment for children.
Ms Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa said that the NACCE highly appreciates the strong participation, sense of responsibility of state management agencies and the active support from international organizations for children's drowning prevention and control in Vietnam.
“In general, ministries, branches and localities have paid attention to implementing the Program on prevention and control of child accidents and injuries, especially child drowning prevention and control; inter-sectoral coordination in this area has been enhanced and mobilized the participation of the community, as well as the support of international organizations” – she added.
She especially emphasized the role of MoLISA, in which the Ministry promptly issued 16 official dispatches directing the People's Committees of provinces and cities to strengthen the prevention and control of child accidents and injuries./.
