Minister Dao Ngoc Dung receives the ILO General Director
(LĐXH)- On the afternoon of June 29, MoLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a meeting and worked with Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Both sides exchanged a number of contents on the issue of decent work, updated some progress on labor law in compliance with international labor standards and future development orientations.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed: “Vietnam is an active and responsible member of the ILO. The commitments between Vietnam and the ILO have basically been realized and incorporated into the country's laws.
The Minister said that the ILO supported Vietnam to study and develop the Labour Code for the first time in 1994, revised in 2012 and 2019.
The technical assistance of the ILO in the implementation of projects on occupational safety, social insurance, industrial relations, reduction of child labour, promotion of gender equality is also very effective and plays an important role in the social development process of Vietnam.
In the coming time, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung hopes to continue to receive support from the ILO in the process of implementing the Vietnam - ILO Cooperation Program on Decent Work for the period 2022 - 2026.
He also hoped that the ILO would focus resources and support researchers to ratify Convention No. 87 and institutionalize reforms on social insurance and employment policies.
In response to the Minister, Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the ILO, said that this is the first visit to Vietnam by an ILO Director-General since Vietnam rejoined the ILO in 1992.
Through this visit, the ILO highly appreciates Vietnam's role, position and contribution in global joint activities on labour, employment, social security and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in these fields.
In the future, the ILO Director-General pledged to continue to support Vietnam in all matters related to employment and protection of workers' rights.
At the same time, Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo also wished to cooperate with Vietnam to implement initiatives of the ILO and the United Nations on promoting global employment, especially focusing on three 3 initiatives on economic, society and environment./.
