NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan honors war invalids, martyrs
(LĐXH)- Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairwoman presented Memorial Certificates to relatives of martyrs in the central province of Quang Nam on Tuesday.
Seventy-three “The Fatherland Acknowledges the Merit” certificates were presented to families of war martyrs during a ceremony in the Central province of Quang Nam on July 21. The ceremony marked the 73rd War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27.
The certificates were presented by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission Truong Thi Mai, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, and Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) Dao Ngoc Dung.
Minister Dung said the event is part of activities marking the 73rd anniversary of the Day of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers, on July 27.

In July last year the ministry submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister on granting the "The Fatherland Acknowledges the Merit" certificate to 580 war martyrs.
NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her profound gratitude to veteran revolutionaries, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the people’s armed forces, wounded soldiers, and their families.
Over the past 73 years, the Party, the State, and the people have always paid major attention to supporting martyrs, wounded soldiers, and contributors to the revolution, she said, adding that the search for martyrs’ remains has produced important results, both at home and in neighboring Laos and Cambodia.
The same day, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung Dung and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Quang Nam province handed over houses to 20 families of war martyrs, each worth 50 million VND (2,100 USD).
** Earlier, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on Monday afternoon paid visits to some social policy families in Da Nang and its neighbouring Quang Nam Province in the build up to the 73rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (27 July).

In Da Nang, Chairwoman Ngan visited and presented gifts to Mr Nguyen Van Hien, a senior revolutionary and war invalid living in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District.
Mr Hien has made great devotion and dedication to the cause of national liberation since he joined the national revolution in 1939. His wife and daughter are martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s reunification.
In Quang Nam Province, the NA leader visited and extend words of warm encouragement to 3 social policy families in Tam Ky City.
During her visits to local social policy familes , the NA Chairwoman, on behalf of the Party and State, expressed her profound gratitude to martyrs, war invalids, and other revolutionary contributors for their glorious sacrifice and great service during the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.
The Viet Nam Invalids and Martyrs Day (27 July) is a special chance for the whole country to commemorate millions of martyrs and war invalids who sacrificed their lives and health during the wars.
In 1947, just two years after President Ho Chi Minh delivered the declaration of independence, the first decree on preferential policies for war invalids and fallen soldiers was issued.
The same year, July 27 was designated as the national day of war invalids, which was later renamed the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, to call on our community to support war invalids and martyrs’ families in acknowledgement of their contributions to the nation./.
