Opportunities for Vietnamese workers to work in Greece
(LĐXH)- On August 8, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan had a meeting with Mr. Christos Giannakakis - Vice Chairman of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece and Mr. Moschos Korasidis - General Director of the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece to discuss cooperation in bringing Vietnamese labourers to work in Greece in the agricultural sector.
"The National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Greece is an organization with more than 300 members, of which 80% are cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector, stretching from the north to the south of Greece.
Currently, Greece has a shortage of human resources in many fields (60,000 workers in agriculture, processing industry, 50,000 workers in construction and 50,000 workers in tourism).
Greece only accepts workers from countries outside the European Union (EU). Some Asian countries that have supplied labour to Greece to work are Bangladesh, the Philippines, and China", said Mr. Christos Giannakakis.
"The Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives is looking for new labor markets like Vietnam with high-quality, safe and hard-working workers," he added.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan said that during the official visits and working visits to Vietnam and Greece by the two countries' senior leaders, the Vietnamese side discussed with Greece about cooperation in bringing Vietnamese workers to work in Greece.
Greece also highly appreciated the qualifications, vocational skills and sense of organization and discipline of Vietnamese workers and agreed that the two sides would soon negotiate and sign a labour cooperation agreement.
In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan asked the Greek National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives to clarify the process and time for visa issuance, foreign language requirements and work permits for Vietnamese workers to work in Greece.
On the basis of general regulations and standards, MoLISA will guide businesses to select workers for training and meet the requirements of Greece./.
