Over 9,000 calls to the Human Trafficking Hotline in 3 years
(LĐXH)- This is the data published at the “Experience Sharing Workshop of the project for Strengthening the Operation of Hotline for counseling and supporting trafficked survivors” by the Department of Children’s Affairs (under MoLISA) in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held on February 14, in Hanoi.
The government identifies human trafficking as a serious social problem that needs to be urgently addressed. Since then, the need for advice and information on safe migration and information on human trafficking prevention and control is increasing.
The operation of the Human Trafficking Prevention and Control Hotline is considered one of the appropriate and useful solutions to strengthen the network of cooperation and coordination in the prevention and combat of human trafficking in Vietnam.
In the past 7 years, the Project of Strengthening the Operation of Hotline for counseling and supporting trafficked survivors sponsored by JICA has contributed to raising people's awareness about human trafficking crimes, as well as operating the Hotline.
By sharing phone number 111 with the National Center for Child Protection, the hotline also contributes to the prevention and combat of human trafficking by providing information related to human trafficking, counseling for victims of human trafficking.
Phase 2 of the Project was started from November 2018 to February 2022. After nearly 3 years, the Hotline has received 9,154 calls, including 1,069 calls about psychological counseling, policy, services and victim support; 129 referrals with 165 people rescued./.
