(LĐXH)- According to MoLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, the number of workers returning to their hometowns in the fourth COVID-19 epidemic wave is relatively large, with about 1.3 million people.
Surveys and reports from southern provinces show that about 30% of local people who have returned to their hometown need to return to Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces to work; 30% want to change their jobs and the rest mostly want to stay in the countryside. Among those who stay in the countryside, only about 40% want to have a job there.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung raised a number of issues that need attention in the coming time, in which, Ho Chi Minh City and other key economic regions need to coordinate with localities to mobilize and persuade workers to return.
“Provinces actively connect with other localities to introduce jobs for people. Recently, Thanh Hoa province has introduced the returned workers to work in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang” – he said.
The Minister proposed three issues as follows: First, localities, together with Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and key economic regions to mobilize, persuade and introduce workers to return to work.
Second, localities also actively connect with other localities, even in the region, to introduce jobs for labourers.
The Minister said: “For example, in Thanh Hoa province, in the past time, it has introduced workers to work in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Ha Nam. Bac Giang has increased by more than 50,000 workers compared to the time before the epidemic”.
Third, provinces need to create local jobs for labourers. For example, Quang Tri, Quang Nam have received all garment workers to work in their localities.
The Minister emphasized that it is necessary to focus on implementing policies such as poverty reduction policy, policy of lending from the national fund to create jobs… to support workers./.
