Southern localities reviving labour market
A jobs fair was held recently by the Employment Service Centre of Can Tho city in cooperation with 12 other southern localities. The event took place as part of efforts to boost the recovery of the local labour market after COVID-19 forced many workers to leave industrial hubs and return home.

Nguyen Ngoc Khuyen, from Hau Giang province, visited the Employment Service Centre to apply for a human resources position at a bookstore. After three months of unemployment, she hoped to find a good job.
Apart from enterprises attending the fair online, many were in attendance to find workers. It was difficult, however, to fill all of the vacancies.
Some 100,000 migrant workers from the Mekong Delta region left Ho Chi Minh City and nearby localities and returned to their hometown, resulting in enterprises suffering from a severe shortage of workers as they restore operations. It is therefore necessary to revive the local labour market.
The Employment Service Centre said it will continue to work with other job centres in the Mekong Delta region and nearby localities over the remainder of the year to organise similar jobs fairs to ensure that enterprises have sufficient workers to recover production./. VNA
