Strengthening labour cooperation between Vietnam and the US
(LĐXH)- Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha received Ms. Katherine Tai, Ambassador of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on February 14, in Hanoi.

She emphasized that over the past time, cooperation activities between the United States and Vietnam have made an important contribution to Vietnam’s process of amending and perfecting the legal system, especially the revision of the Labour Code in 2019; as well as ratified 7 of the 8 fundamental ILO Conventions, most recently Convention 98 on the Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining and Convention 105 on the abolition of forced labour.
In response, Ms. Katherine Tai emphasized that through cooperative activities, the United States always wishes to promote the implementation of the employee-centered policy, considering this as a core issue, in order to create better conditions for workers.
With the contents of negotiations in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), labour issues have always been focused with much progress.
Ms. Katherine Tai assessed that over the past time, Vietnam has made many changes in the Labour Code in line with international labour standards, which is an important basis for the two sides to strengthen cooperation in the coming time.
The US always respects and protects the rights of workers, in which US companies must show their roles and responsibilities in implementing labour laws, respecting the regulations of the host country.
Within the framework of the exchange, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha proposed the United States to further promote cooperation in technology and experience in the fields of labour, employment and vocational education.
She also suggested that the US Government strengthen its support in the humanitarian and social affairs./.
