Vietnam - UAE promote labour cooperation
(LĐXH)- MoLISA Deputy Minister Nguyen Ba Hoan had a meeting and worked with Mr. Thani Bini Ahmed Alzeyoudi, Minister of State in charge of Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 26.
In recent years, economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE has been growing well. However, the current results of labour cooperation are not commensurate with the development cooperation potential of the two countries.
The Deputy Minister shared that Vietnam started sending workers to work in the UAE since 1995.
In February 2009, Vietnam and the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of human resources. Currently, there are about 3,000 Vietnamese workers working in the UAE, mainly in industries such as construction, restaurant-hotel services, supermarket sales, mechanics, etc.
At the meeting on the sidelines of the 2023 World Climate Action Summit in the UAE, the two sides signed a MOU to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the sector of labour.
"In the coming time, to further promote labor cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE to match the cooperative relationship between the two countries, we suggest that the UAE should expand the groups of industries receiving Vietnamese workers in the service sector (aviation, restaurants, hotels, retail, etc.) and healthcare (nursing, doctors, etc.). In addition, the two countries can organize forums and seminars to promote Vietnamese workers to work in the UAE," he said.
In response, Mr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi agreed with the Deputy Minister's proposals and he will discuss with his counterpart in charge of human resources in the UAE to quickly organize seminars to promote sending Vietnamese workers to work in the UAE.
He also highly appreciated and affirmed that Vietnamese workers have very good vocational skills and responsibility in their work.
He said that in the near future, UAE businesses really hope to soon receive Vietnamese workers to work there, because currently, UAE businesses have a need to recruit about 50,000 workers each year with many different vocational skill groups at different skill levels./.
