Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha suggested UNICEF to continue financial assistance and family support services in Viet Nam
(LĐXH) On April 18, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha had a meeting with Cornelius Williams, Director of The Global Child Protection Strategy of the UNICEF. Attending the meeting were leaders from International Cooperation Department, Department of Children and Social Protection.

Talking about child care and protection in Vietnam, Mr. Cornelius Williams noted that in recent years, Vietnam has made commitments and implemented the rights of children, promulgated the Law on Children. "Vietnam has accomplished a number of MDGs such as reducing extreme poverty, universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing the mortality rate in children under 5 ... "- UNICEF representative said.
Mr. Cornelius Williams hoped in the near future, Vietnam will soon complete and promulgate the Law on Social Work. On his opinion, Viet Nam is a developing country. UNICEF expected that Vietnam would participate more actively in world forums, share experiences on achievements made, especially in approaching, addressing the needs of vulnerable people in society.

For the sharing from Mr. Cornelius Williams, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha highly appreciated UNICEF's support to Vietnam in recent years in the fields of social protection and education of children. She also affirmed that social work is solving social security issues such as care for the elderly, people living with HIV / AIDS and disadvantaged children. Since the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 32/2010 / QD-TTg on "Project on development of social work in the period 2010-2020", there are about 60,000 social workers, 60 vocational schools in the whole country ... "Currently, social service delivery centers are developing rapidly which make an important contribution to the social security system, especially remote areas in difficulties "- Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha informed and expressed that UNICEF would continue to interest and cooperate to support Vietnam financial services, home and child network communication, awareness raising, policy advocacy and related programs, thereby promoting better cooperation between Vietnam and UNICEF.
